Ma mère est assez fan de Chapeau Melon et Bottes de Cuir et j’ai donc grandi en en visionnant les épisodes, ce qui a certainement influé mes goûts vestimentaires. Les tenues d’Emma Peel sont clairement iconiques, incarnant toute l’impertinence de la mode du début des années 1960. Mais Emma Peel n’était pas qu’une jolie figurante bien habillée : elle était aussi une femme forte qui en imposait et que j’admirais. Même si la série est parfois tombée dans les poncifs usés de la Demoiselle en Détresse, c’était rafraichissant de voir une héroïne indépendante qui maitrisait les arts martiaux et avait mieux à faire que d’attendre “Le Bon” en soignant son apparence. Je me suis bien amusée à essayer de recréer ses tenues les plus mémorables en lingerie et j’espère que vous apprécierez le résultat!
My mum is quite a fan of The Avengers from the 60s so I grew up watching episodes, and it certainly had an influence on my Fashion taste. Emma Peel’s outfits are undoubtedly iconic, embodying all the boldness of the early 60s’ Fashion. But Emma Peel was not only a beautiful, well-dressed character: she was also a strong, bad-ass woman I definitely looked up to. While the series did not escape from certain old “Damsel in Distress” tropes, it was refreshing to see an independent heroine who mastered martial arts and had better things to do than standing in the corner while looking pretty and waiting for “The One”. Trying to recreate her most legendary looks with lingerie was a fun self-assignment, and I hope you will enjoy the result!
