Certains articles semblent être maudits. Celui-ci avait très bien commencé, avec une très généreuse offre de collaboration en Novembre de la part de Brastop, un de mes sites de référence pour la lingerie grands bonnets et abordable. J’ai rapidement reçu Entwine de Scantilly (la petite soeur branchée de Curvy Kate), que j’ai beaucoup apprécié et que je porte souvent. Un article aurait dû suivre en Décembre, ou au moins en Janvier, mais c’est là où ça a dérapé de mon côté. Dépression saisonnière, travaux pour la fac, questionnements personnels, agression mineure: ces derniers mois ne m’ont pas gâtée, et je ne l’ai pas très bien géré du point de vue du blog.
J’aurais du essayer de m’en tenir à un article par semaine et d’écrire cet avis au plus vite, mais à la place je me suis fixée des objectifs trop ambitieux, que je n’ai évidemment pas réussi à atteindre, ce qui n’a fait que contribuer à mon anxiété et à me rendre moins productive. C’est pourquoi je n’écris cet article que maintenant, avec un retard considérable. J’aimerais donc offrir mes sincères excuses à Brastop pout ce manque de professionnalisme, et les remercier pour avoir été incroyablement compréhensifs et ne pas m’avoir poussée à publier du contenu quand je n’étais pas en mesure de le faire.
Some articles seem to be cursed. This one had a really good start, with a very kind collaboration offer from Brastop, one of my go-to online stores for affordable fuller bust lingerie, back in November. I quickly received Entwine by Scantilly (Curvy Kate’s stylish little sister), which I ended up really liking and wearing quite often. It should have followed with a review in December, or at least January, but this is where things started to go downhill. Seasonal depression, uni work, deep personal questioning, minor assault: these last few months were not particularly kind to me, and I didn’t handle this the best I could regarding my blog.
I should have tried to stick to 1 article per week and to write this review as soon as possible, but instead I set unrealistic goals for myself, which I obviously failed to reach, which only made me more anxious and less productive. This is how I am only writing this review now, ridiculously late. I would like to offer my sincere apologies to Brastop for this lack of professionalism, and I also want to thank them for being incredibly understanding and not pressuring me into publishing content when I clearly was not in a position to do so.
Passons maintenant à une note plus positive avec mon avis sur cet ensemble. Comme je l’ai déjà écris, je l’aime beaucoup.
Je possède déjà pas mal de lingerie de la marque Scantilly et je ne pensais pas particulièrement à acheter Entwine, car je trouvais le soutien-gorge un peu trop massif. Cependant, il s’est imposé dans ma lingerie quotidienne et je suis très contente de ne pas être passée à côté. Il offre de nombreuses possibilités de customisation et c’est l’ensemble parfait pour s’essayer à la tendance lingerie apparente. Je porte le soutien-gorge dépassant d’une robe en jean décolletée en écrivant cet article, et je pense que je le porterai beaucoup cet été. Je ne le trouve en fait pas trop couvrant sur moi, même si les bonnets font parfois leur apparition avec mes tenues décolletées.
Brastop m’a emvoyé un 85G car ils étaient à court de 80H et bien que la coupe soit excellente, il est un peu grand dans le dos pour moi, ce qui veut dire que les tailles sont justes.
Now that this is said, let’s move on to a more positive note with the actual review. As I already wrote, I really like this set.
I already own a lot of Scantilly and I was not particularly thinking of purchasing Entwine, because I thought it looked a bit like a lot of bra. Nonetheless, it made it into my regular lingerie rotation and I am so happy I did not miss out on it. It offers endless possibilities of cool styling options and it is the perfect set to dab into the lingerie as outerwear trend. I’m currently wearing the bra peeking out of low-cut denim dress as I am writing this review, and I can see it getting a lot of wear this summer. I don’t find the coverage too overwhelming on myself but the cups do tend to show.
Brastop sent me a 32F because they were out of my usual 30FF and although it fits very well, it is a bit roomy in the band on me, meaning it must be quite true to size.
De tous les soutiens-gorge Scantilly que j’ai (Vamp, dont je parlais ici, Peek-A-Boo, Voodoo, Lavish et Fixate), Entwine est de loin celui que je préfère porter, ce que j’attribue à ces armatures assez étroites et à sa bonne projection pour un soutien-gorge plongeant rembourré.
Le bonnet principal est fait de 3 parties rembourrées et il est recouvert de tulle transparent, ce qui donne l’illusion d’une construction en 4 parties. Il me semble que le jeu de laçage permet aux bretelles de bien rester en place et leur évite de tomber, ce qui est un problème fréquent pour moi. Si vous avez des épaules étroites et/ou tombantes, Entwine pourrait être une bonne option pour vous.
Les tissus employés sont résistants mais relativement doux et je trouve qu’Entwine est le mélange parfait entre maintien et confort. Globalement, il fait son travail tout en restant séduisant, ce qui est un équilibre difficile à atteindre.
Out of all the Scantilly bras that I own (Vamp, reviewed here, Peek-a-Boo, Voodoo, Lavish and Fixate), Entwine has got to be my favourite to wear, which I attribute to the fact it is decently narrow and quite projected for a padded plunge.
The main cup is made of 3 padded parts and it is overlaid with a layer of sheer mesh, which makes it look like a 4-part construction. I believe that the lacing also helps with my usual issue of slipping straps. If you have narrow/slouching shoulders, Entwine might be a great option for you.
The materials are sturdy but reasonably soft and I find it to be the perfect mix of comfort and support. Overall, it feels quite heavy-duty but still sexy, which is a hard-to-reach balance.
Je ne m’attendais pas vraiment à aimer la culotte au vu de mes expériences antérieures avec Scantilly. Leurs bas taillent plutôt grand et ont tendance à me rentrer dans les fesses. Cette culotte, en revanche, taille plus juste et, étonnamment, reste bien en place malgré sa coupe échancrée, alors que les culottes qui me vont habituellement le mieux sont soit très couvrantes, soit carrément ouvertes.
Si j’ai deux soucis à mentionner quant à cet ensemble, c’est que la coupe du soutien-gorge fait qu’il est difficile de bien ajuster sa poitrine à l’intérieur du bonnet, et que j’aurais aimé que le mélange d’opacité et de transparence du soutien-gorge se retrouve sur la culotte pour plus d’unité. Comme vous pouvez le constater, ce sont des remarques d’ordre secondaire puisque cet ensemble est proche de la perfection.
I didn’t really expect to like the knickers based on my past experience with Scantilly. Their bottoms tend to run big and to give me wedgies. I’ve found this brief to be true-to-size and amazingly enough, it is cheeky without giving me wedgies, when usually the knickers that fit me best are either full coverage or open.
If I had two qualms with this set, it is that the structure of the bra makes it a bit hard to scoop and swoop when it is laced in the front, and that I would have liked for the mix of opaque and sheer of the bra to be repeated on the knickers for a better unity between the two. As you can see, these are really minor points as this set is hard to fault.
Je n’ai rien de négatif à dire sur la qualité non plus. J’ai lavé le soutien-gorge à la main et la culotte en machine plusieurs fois sans remarquer le moindre changement. Je recommanderais de faire attention avec les rubans si vous optez pour le lavage en machine, et je pense qu’un sac de lavage serait bienvenu. Bien que cet ensemble soit joli et bien exécuté, je ne le considèrerais pas comme particulièrement luxueux et je le placerais plutôt dans la catégorie tendance, à l’image de marques comme Playful Promises qui pratique des prix similaires.
Playful Promises et Scantilly ont beaucoup fait avancé les choses pour rendre la lingerie bonnets profonds plus créative, et j’ai hâte de voir ce que ce segment du marché de la lingerie réserve pour l’avenir, surtout maintenant que la marque grandes tailles Elomi étend sa gamme de tailles et se montre plus ambitieuse dans ses designs. J’ai toujours parfois du mal à trouver exactement ce que je veux dans ma taille, mais la situation s’est considérablement améliorée depuis que j’ai commencé à bloguer sur la lingerie il y a 5 ans.
Ma seule inquiétude est de voir les options pour les dos en 75 se réduire de plus en plus, même chez les plus grandes marques, ainsi que les dos en 65 et en 70 être complètement délaissés. Je le lie au manque d’éducation sur le bien-aller qui pousse les marques bonnets profonds à passer à côté d’importants marchés potentiels. Par exemple, dans la mesure où la plupart des magasins français voudraient me mettre dans du 90E/F, ça ne me parait pas surprenant que les petites tailles de dos ne se vendent pas bien pour le moment, alors qu’il pourrait y avoir un vrai marché pour elles.
Regarding the quality, I have nothing negative to report. I have washed the bra by hand and the knickers in the machine several times and I have not noticed any change. I would definitely recommend to be careful with the ribbons if you machine wash, and I would strongly advise for using a lingerie washing bag.
While it is definitely on the nicer, fancier side, I would not class it as luxury, but rather as designer, alongside similarly priced brands such as Playful Promises.
Playful Promises and Scantilly have both done a lot towards pushing the envelope for more creative fuller bust lingerie, and I am excited to see what the future holds for this side of the lingerie market, especially now that Elomi is expanding their size range and design ambitions. I still struggle to find exactly what I want in my size at times but the overall situation is tremendously better than when I first started blogging about lingerie 5 years ago.
My only worry is to see the options in 28 bands decreasing, even among bigger brands, and to witness the push for 24 and 26 bands being more or less abandoned all together. I would strongly link this to the lack of education on bra fitting which means that full bust brands are missing out on big potential markets. For instance, with most French retailers sizing me at a 34DD/E, it is no surprise that smaller bands do not sell much at the moment, when there could actually be an important demand for them.
Pour en revenir au sujet principal, si vous hésitiez à vous procurer Entwine, je vous le recommande très chaleureusement. C’est de loin l’ensemble Scantilly que je porte le plus, bien que je ne pensais pas initialement l’ajouter à ma collection. Avoir l’opportunité d’essayer des ensembles surprenants est vraiment l’un des avantages au fait de bloguer sur la lingerie, et cela compense un peu le fait que ma taille soit si difficile à trouver en magasins.
Je me demande d’ailleurs pourquoi plus de magasins, notamment Bravissimo ne stockent pas Scantilly, car cela permettrait à la marque de toucher un public plus large, peut être moins enclin à commander sur internet. En attendant, Brastop est une option formidable pour essayer Scantilly avec des envois rapides, des échanges gratuits et, il me semble, des retours gratuits au sein du Royaume-Uni. Je pense simplement qu’avoir la possibilité d’essayer en magasin enrichit grandement l’expérience de shopping, mais il semble que les magasins aient encore besoin d’un peu de temps afin d’appréhender les besoins des bonnets profonds.
To get back to the review, if you were hesitating about getting Entwine, I would strongly recommend you do. It is clearly my Scantilly set that gets worn the most, although I did not consider purchasing it in the first place. Having the opportunity to try surprising sets such as this one is definitely one of the perks of being a lingerie blogger, and it kind of makes up for my size being very rare in brick-and-mortar stores.
Speaking of which, I really wonder why Bravissimo does not stock Scantilly, as I would see it as being extremely advantageous to both Curvy Kate and Bravissimo. Scantilly would reach many more people, who might be less inclined to purchase online while Bravissimo would add a bit of glamour to their rather everyday-ish image. In the mean time, Brastop is a fantastic option with fast shipping, free exchanges, and I believe free returns within the UK as well (it is hard to tell as the website seems to be set on France for me). I just think that being able to try things in store as well makes for a more pleasant shopping experience, but it seems that brick-and-mortar retailers still need some time before catching up to the needs of fuller busts.
